ADRs End Higher; Immuron, 51job Among Companies Actively Trading

International stocks trading in New York closed higher on Wednesday. The S&P/BNY Mellon index of American depositary receipts rose 1.2% to 167.88. The European index improved 0.7% to 150.74. The Asian index rose 1.8% to 222.19. The Latin American index increased 2.1% to 188.73. And the emerging-markets index rose 2% to 364.01.

Immuron Ltd.’s ADRs jumped 46% after the company said it was awarded 4.8 million Australian dollars ($3.4 million) in funding in a new research agreement with the U.S Department of Defense for a study to clinically evaluate a military strength dosing regimen for Travelan.

51job Inc.’s ADRs rose 9.1% amid renewed hopes for a deal to take the provider of human-resource services private. The Shanghai company said it received a letter from Garnet Faith Ltd. proposing to cut the takeover price to $57.25 a share in cash from $79.05 and to reduce the combined ownership of DCP Capital Partners II LP and Ocean Link Partners Ltd. in the company after the deal closes to 9.99%.

ADRs of Koninklijke Philips NV tumbled 15% after the company said that sales for the last quarter of the year were below its expectations, blaming global supply-chain shortages and the postponement of customer equipment installations.
