Sensex Today | Stock Market Highlights: The benchmark Sensex slipped by 139 points, settling at 80,082, while the Nifty declined by 37 points to close at 24,436. Despite the flat performance of large-cap indices, the Midcap Index outperformed, surging by 302 points, or nearly 1%, to end the day at 56,476. The Nifty Bank Index also managed to edge up slightly, gaining 18 points to close at 51,239.
Paytm saw its stock surge by over 9% after NPCI approved the onboarding of new UPI users. Meanwhile, other companies that posted strong Q2 results, including Can Fin Homes, GMDC, Amber Enterprises, and SRF, witnessed positive reactions from investors, with SRF rising nearly 3% following positive management commentary.
TVS Motor faced pressure, dropping by 7% from its intraday highs after the company reported lower-than-expected Q2 results. BHEL also saw a decline, falling more than 4% as 0.5% of its equity changed hands in a block deal. Syngene finished the session with minor cuts after posting in-line earnings for Q2.
